I spent my childhood growing up along the coast in Weston, Connecticut and after high school, I was fortunate enough to attend Cornell University in Ithaca, New York where I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Administration. I spent the next four years working in a historic hotel in New York City and learning all of the things college didn’t teach.
While I greatly appreciated this time, I found myself yearning to move into a more financially oriented role and as a result I went back to school to get my MBA at Columbia University in New York City. On my very first day at Columbia, I spotted the woman who would become my wife – a few years after graduating, we were married.
After graduating, I joined a group that purchased distressed hotel properties. Over the next 10 years, we grew that company and ultimately sold it to a public Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT). Simultaneous to this growth, my wife and I started a family and when our second child was about to join us, we moved out of NYC and into our current home in CT, where we have lived for the past 20+ years. We have loved our time raising our children here and they have both grown up, gone to college and started their own successful careers.
I have continued my career working for small to mid-sized private companies in finance and operational roles and have benefitted from learning new industries such as natural products and distribution, specialty retail, digital media, real estate, and digital programmatic buying. While learning all the aspects of these new industries, I have been able to use my skills from past roles and have been successful in helping them grow, maximize revenue, realign relationships with capital markets, and create a productive and cohesive work environment. For the last fourteen, I worked in New York City for a digital media company and after leading it to a successful exit, I decided to end my long commute into the city and look for my next opportunity closer to home.
When the opportunity to interview with Holler Law Firm came along, it was clear that George and Rosa have built a company with talented individuals that made the whole greater than the sum. More importantly, in addition to their great knowledge and skill sets, they also lead a company with a strong cultural environment that truly cares about their people. Over and over again, they have promoted open communication and respectful interactions. My time here has only magnified that view.
When I am not working, I spend time with my wife and friends dining out, travelling, hiking and enjoying Compo Beach. Working at or near home without a long commute has been a fantastic change in my lifestyle, and working for a successful, family cultured company only increases my enjoyment.
