Matt Morris

I am a Native Texan, living most my life in the Dallas metro area.  I enlisted with the U.S. Army in 1997 and actively served in Germany from 1998 to 2001 when I received an honorable discharge at the rank of Specialist. My wife is a native German I had met while stationed there.  We married then moved back to Texas the summer of 2001.  Our family has grown to include a now-teenage son and two dogs.  My time in Germany (and Europe in general) showed me that outside of language and politics, people are the same no matter where you are.  I made friends and gained family, and realized the virtue of simply being a good person has value all over the globe.  A most humbling and endearing life lesson.

I began my settlement services industry career in 2002 as a vendor management specialist working primarily with hundreds of small, localized title abstract firms throughout the country.  Over the years I have managed national-sized networks of abstractors and witness closing notaries, and in 2010 began managing strategic business partner relationships with business outsource processing firms both within and outside of the U.S.

I took a roughly yearlong leave from settlement services right after the 2008 real estate market crash to work as a customer service and call center rep at a mortgage servicing company.  I gained valuable insight into how lending institutions operate during my time there.  This experience greatly increased my capacity to understand and empathize with lender clients.  This empathy combined with other client-centered knowledge and expertise became strong drivers for me to develop and exercise a heart for customer service.

My settlement services career went on from there, and Holler Law Firm adopted me into their family in May 2019.  One of the things I love about us is that we are so open, honest, and engaging with each other.  I am one of a few employees who works remotely, but there is such a strong cohesion and camaraderie that it is easy to forget that there are seven U.S. states physically separating us.  To me, it’s as if we’re just down the street from one another!

My philosophy about vendor management is to make it work in ways that benefit both parties involved.  I take a liaison approach by framing a holistic understanding of my internal clients’ needs, the scope of products and services a given vendor or business partner may provide, then strategically meshing them in ways that are beneficial for both.  We rely on our vendor partners to operate, and they rely on us to provide opportunities for support.  Therefore, we must move in step for either of us to grow and succeed.  I take a lot of pride and satisfaction at being in the unique position where what I do directly affects this.
